Top Tip: Coming Along Side

Do you sometimes struggle coming alongside and docking at the wharf?

Here are some quick tips you can use next time you are out on the water!

  1. When you are looking to dock your boat, try, when you can, do it into the wind and the weather which will help you as a break.
  2. Pick your spot and angle your boat at a 45-degree angle.
  3. Keep your speed nice and slow- you can do this by going in and out of gear (you can still steer this way)
  4. Start to really shallow your angle as you approach
  5. Put the engine in a stern, turning it towards the wharf which will pull the back of the boat in.
